All SFX Youth Sports programs are committed to the fundamental principles of teamwork, fair play and good sportsmanship. The SFX travel baseball program’s mission is to uphold these principles while playing competitive baseball: the HUSKIES mission is to win games through dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
SFX Youth Sports recognizes that some players take baseball very seriously and show more aptitude and passion for the game than other children. The HUSKIES program was started in 2003 to offer these players a nurturing, competitive outlet for their baseball passion. The success of the HUSKIES program relies heavily on its coaches, who work as a team to ensure continuity from one year to the next. The coaches are dedicated to the program, and expect equal dedication from HUSKY parents to fully participate in this highly demanding program.
The Huskies play competitive baseball throughout Brooklyn, Long Island, and New Jersey. Because of the competitive nature of the HUSKIES program, not all players who try out for the team will be placed on the roster. Players who are accepted onto the team should recognize that a significant commitment is required by both players and parents. Teams may practice several times each week, with games on weeknights and multiple games on weekends. Parents are asked to review the parent contract and make a commitment to the HUSKIES for the duration of the season.
There are 6 different HUSKIES teams for players of similar ages and skill level. HUSKY players are no longer allowed to “play up” since larger field dimensions present the risk of injury to younger players.
The SFX travel baseball has established itself as one of Brooklyn’s most competitive baseball programs since it was founded in 2003.
