Registration for the 2011 SFX Flag Football season begins April 11,
2011.

You can pay by credit card, debit card or check. Registration forms will also be available at Sport Prospect located at

362 7th Ave or the SFX Rectory located at 225 6th Ave.

Special thanks to our friend James Sakil who coached his Brooklyn Angel Giants to the championship in the 15-17 year old division. James has been with us since our inaugural season in 2007 and has helped make SFX the successful league it is today. James and his team haveaged out of our program. All the best to James and his boys.

Also for the first time in 2010 we had a 12-14 Girls Division. Special thanks to the Holy Name Jets and SBBL Cardinals for getting that division going. We also had, for the first time in 2010, a very successful Rookie program for 7-8 year olds run by our Rookie coordinator Rubiel Ferrer.

SFX FLAG FOOTBALL, established in 2007, is the ORIGINAL NFL-Flag Football League in Park Slope and the ONLY Flag Football league that plays in Prospect Park!!

WE are also the only football league that allows full teams to register in our league without breaking them up.

The year 2007 marked the first year of NFL-Flag Football for SFX Youth Sports. We started with 6 teams playing in 1 division. Under the successful leadership of Tom and Barbara Henderson our program continues to grow every year. We are proud to say we had 33 teams playing in our league in 2010. The program is sponsored through the National Football League, which helps us provide a fun and exciting way to learn the game of football in a non-contact way. The game is fast paced and full of action while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. We’ve taken the basic rules supplied by the NFL and modified them to make our league better. The NFL supplies the uniforms, flag belts and footballs for the 9-11 and the 12-14 year old divisions. SFX supplies the uniforms, flag belts and footballs for the Rookie and 15-17 year old division.

There are FIVE divisions:

7 - 8 years old Co-ed Instructional Division
9 - 11 years old: Coed Division
12 - 14 years old: Girls Only
12 - 14 years old: Boys Only
15 - 17 years old: Boys Only

Our regular season usually kicks off the 3rd Saturday in September and runs through the first Sunday in November. There is a guaranteed 10 games for each team. Playoffs start the 2nd weekend in November. Playoffs are single elimination with all teams making the playoffs.
The Super Bowls for each division are played the weekend before Thanksgiving. . Trophies are awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners only.

All games are played in the Long Meadow in Prospect Park. Each team must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 10. Full teams from SFX are welcome as well as full teams from other outside organizations. SFX Coaches, feel free to recruit from your baseball teams. Don’t worry if your child does not have a team. All individuals who register will be placed on a team.

All players must wear a protective mouthpiece. There are no exceptions! Official NFL Flag jerseys must be worn during play. Shirts must be tucked in during play. Football pants are allowed but not mandatory, otherwise only sweatpants or shorts with no pockets will
be allowed. Flag belts must be worn around the waist and flags must be worn on the hip.

“EFFECTIVE 2009: No Cleats or Metal Spikes are allowed! Only SNEAKERS are permitted. Turf shoes are sneakers and can also be worn.”

There is a $ 10.00 discount for early registration 4/11/2011 - 4/30/2011

There will be a $ 30.00 late fee assessed for any registrations or fees received after July 1, 2011.

Please note the NFL signed waiver is part of the registration process for the 9-11 coed, 12-14 Boys and 12-14 Girls divisions only. Your child will  NOT be considered registered in those divisions without the signed NFL waiver.

 

The fees are as follows:

Rookie Division 7-8 years old Coed    $ 100.00

NFC Division 9-11 years old Coed      $ 120.00

AFC Division 12-14 years old Boys    $ 130.00

Liberty Division 12-14 years old Girls $ 130.00

NFL Division 15-17 years old Boys    $ 150.00

 

Ages as of 9/1/2011 NO EXCEPTIONS

 

The season will run from Sat Sept 17th through Sun Nov 6th, 2011.
